Paula Sides & Ben Williamson 

We are internationally acclaimed classical singers and experienced singing teachers, helping singers develop greater freedom, confidence and technical security.

Teaching in London, St Albans and online, we work with a wide range of singers, from choristers and ambitious young musicians to professional opera singers, conservatoire applicants and amateur choral singers.

 

Between us, we bring extensive experience from the worlds of opera, concert work, choral music, and vocal pedagogy. As soloists, we have performed internationally, won prizes in prestigious singing competitions, and are represented by Connaught Artists. We are both graduates of the Royal College of Music, where Paula was awarded the Tagore Gold Medal by His Majesty King Charles III. Benjamin was a Choral Scholar at King’s College, Cambridge and has extensive experience at the highest level of choral singing. We teach the choristers at St Albans Cathedral, and Ben also teaches the choristers of Temple Church, London. 

 

Our teaching combines artistic experience with a deep understanding of vocal technique, vocal health and emotional wellbeing. Paula has worked as a consultant with the NHS Voice Clinic, and Ben has a Foundation Certificate in Counselling from The Counselling Foundation, as well as experience training as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor at the University of Cambridge, bringing additional insight into confidence, performance psychology and the learning process.

Over many years of performing and teaching, we have developed a shared approach vocal pedagogy and have a wide range of influences from other vocal specialists. We have a scientifically grounded methodology and have attended Janice Chapman's highly regarded Classical Voice Training course, 'Exploring Breathing Methodology' with Ron Morris, and 'Tension Release' with the British Voice Association.
